The infographic is a resource about common diseases in cherry shrimp and how to treat them. It includes several sections, each detailing a different disease, its symptoms, cures, and prevention methods. Here’s a summary of the information presented:
- Vorticella:
- Symptoms: White looking fungus on the shell of the shrimp, usually found on the top of the nose.
- Cure: Salt bath, Paraguard.
- Preventions: Always keep the tank water fresh and clean, perform regular water changes, use a good filtration system.
- Bacterial Infections:
- Symptoms: Sudden death, cherry shrimps’ parts or the whole body is red, or getting pinkish, shrimps hole on the side.
- Cure: At least 30% water change, Hydrogen Peroxide, use an ultraviolet light over the shrimp tank.
- Preventions: You can open the lid of the tank to keep it aerated, cover the tank to keep water warm over night.
- Scutariella Japonica:
- Symptoms: Look for 1-2 mm long white worms around the cherry shrimps’ neck and rostrum area.
- Cure: Salt bath, Seachem Paraguard.
- Preventions: Perform regular water changes, give a salt bath, wait for at least a couple of weeks to introduce the shrimps into a new tank.
- Leeches:
- Cure: Similar to Vorticella, perform salt bath for affected shrimp, use Paraguard if the situation gets too severe. Also, perform weekly water changes on a regular basis.
- Dragonfly Nymphs:
- Symptoms: Dragonfly Nymphs are more of a type of bug than a disease. If they are not less lethal than any bacterial infections.
- Cure: There is no treatment for them other than catching them with a net and throwing out.
- Muscular Necrosis:
- Symptoms: White coloration on the back (generally), these are bacteria thriving. The outcome will eventually cloud the head area.
- Cure: Muscular necrosis can be difficult to perform recovery. Changes in the tank situation (water parameters, etc.) could help.
- Preventions: You need to ensure the right parameters for water in the shrimp tank (kh, gh, nitrates, PH, etc.).
- Fungal Infections:
- Symptoms: White cotton-like growths around the head or abdomen.
- Cure: Take out the infected shrimp immediately and place it in a separate quarantine tank, use Paraguard or another antifungal treatment like API Fungus Cure.
- Preventions: Keep the water clean and healthy for the shrimp, ensure the water parameters are ideal, have a strong filtration system.
